U of A Housing & Residential Life is committed to sustainability—so much so that we have a full-time Senior Coordinator of Sustainability Operations & Initiatives who develops and promotes sustainable education and programs in our dorms!
Some of Our Programs Include:
Bin It to Win It
Part of the Wildcat Living Residential Curriculum, this competition is held in October and is designed to enhance residents’ recycling knowledge. Dorms earn points for recycling, engagement, and videos—and the dorms with the most points win. [Occurs during the fall semester]
Less is More
Dorms will compete head-to-head to see who can reduce their energy and water use the most. Staff will share conservation tips while students sign an online pledge to conserve. The dorms with the biggest utility savings and most pledges win. More info here. [Occurs in the spring semester]
Dodge the Dumpster
Can’t (or don’t want to) take your stuff home? During dorm move-out in May, you can donate what you no longer need to our non-profit partners, so those items can be reused or recycled instead of trashed and sent to the landfill. [Occurs in May]
Sort That Recycling!
How well do you know the recycling rules in U of A dorms? Play an interactive game designed to test your knowledge of campus recycling.
Eco-Power
What kind of difference does it make on your electric bill if you forget to turn your lights off? See how much electricity you use and what smart changes you can make!
